Paid for disgracing company, himself

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO, Mark Hurd, was fired from HP for sexual harassment, but still awarded almost $28 million to just go away. No wonder the public is losing confidence in corporate leaders with Zogby International reporting that 34 percent of Americans believe Big Business is responsible for the current recession. With kind of extra-marital activity apparently running rampant, who’s running the store? Hurd falsified expense reports, and allegedly helped the victim get paid for work not done.

Gloria Allred is representing the woman and says "there was no affair and no intimate sexual relationship." This means that Hurd is now in a state of shame, in deep trouble with his wife and children, losing out on a new contract worth $100 million…and he didn’t even score. Add Hewlett-Packard to other companies like AIG and Lehman Bros that reward their executives for, well, we are not sure. The irony of all this is that Hurd had done a great job under his 5-year tenure. Go figure.
